PARAGLIDERS

Go Back To Top

Prima was born in the early 1990's. Since then thousands have been delivered, faithfully serving in paragliding schools all over the world.

Probably the longest produced classic trainer - it is equally well suited for teaching free flying and perfect for entry level paramotoring.

Now this classic wing has been modernised once again - the 3rd version of the wing has been released on the market. The wing is exactly the same as before, but has improved flare and adaptability for paramotor flying.

The canopy is also more rigid (no tip movement), with redesigned, modern handling - direct and responsive in comparison with Prima II.

To refresh and distinguish, Prima III has been dressed in a new color design »

The rest of Prima specifications remain the same. As always, produced from bomb proof, indestrucable Gelvenor cloth combined with heavy duty lines, to ensure long lasting life Many schools are amazed, unbelievably witnessing the years of service Prima can deliver. All this for a little cost - specially designed to be affordable for all. As a schooling/entry level glider it is still the best investment on the market.

Prima3 CONSTRUCTION AND MATERIALS

Materials
The glider is made from tear resistant Ripstop Nylon cloth, which is P.U. coated to zero porosity and then siliconized to give the fabric high resistance to the elements. Different cloth is used for the top, bottom and ribs due to their different functions. The lines are made of superaramid covered with a polyester sheath for protection against UV, wear and abrasion. The bottom section of the brake lines is made of polyester because of its better mechanical properties. The karabiners that attach the lines to the risers are made of stainless steel.

Go Back To Top1

Finally we have launched KARMA – APCO’s latest addition to its range of gliders It has been long awaited and we spent almost a year on its development. We needed this time to make sure that KARMA will be perfect and are confident that it will satisfy even the most demanding pilots.

Our ongoing research and development program combined with 30 years of experience in designing wings has shown us which design developments can allow for substantial increases in both performance and safety – which were fully implemented in KARMA.

KARMA out-performs many DHV 1-2 gliders while maintaining DHV 1 security at all speeds. Best of all, the handling is simply excellent, whether on the ground during launch, or thermalling up, racing through the sky and climbing with complete confidence in the strongest and tightest of thermals.

KARMA is designed for new pilots just after training or for any pilot searching for a wing which inspires confidence, but at the same time delivers the handling and performance to fly high and far.

KARMA lets the pilot relax, concentrating on flying, safe in the knowledge that the wing has passed the most recent and stringent safety tests.

KARMA’s performance boundaries have been pushed even further, handling is even sweeter, safety more reassuring and launch is easier than ever.

New profile, further planform evolution, and loads of design innovations were a major factor in improving overall performance of KARMA The glider weight has been sharply reduced, even though we are still using our time-proven, reliable Gelvenor cloth (in fact KARMA is lighter than most rival gliders in its Class)

KARMA Paramotor Version
The Karma is also available in a paramotor version, with modified risers with trimmers. Based on the ultra safe DHV-1 Karma paraglider, it offers the ideal solution as a school paramotor or as a first paramotor for the novice pilot.

THRUST – APCO’s purpose built, specialized wing for paramotor flying. It was launched for 2004/2005 season and already enjoys huge popularity thanks to a unique combination of parameters making it probably the best wing around for paramotoring as well for free flying. Fully certified by AFNOR/CEN to Standard class and approved for paramotoring and free flying.

THRUST's design is focused on:
  • Launch - spotless - no matter wind or no wind, cross or tail
  • Ground Handling – THRUST positions itself over head with no effort and just hovers there even in the slightest wind with no sign of collapse, waiting for the pilot to be ready to accelerate into the air
  • In the air the wing acceleration is smooth, and THRUST willingly responds to the engine’s thrust
  • Handling - direct, precise and effortless
  • Flying - awesome
  • Safety – impeccable
  • Landing – piece of cake!
  • Riser – with accelerator and trim (for paramotor version), featuring 2 different levels of hook-in points enabling the THRUST to be fitted to any frame and capable of huge safe, speed range thanks to APCO’s exclusive HIT valves (well over 50km/h)
  • Speed valves (APCO’s exclusive HIT valves) are standard, as well as APCO original double coated siliconised cloth and heavy SuperAramid lines, backed up by our 3 Year/250 hour warranty
Out of gas – THRUST is well suited to free flying too and can be supplied with paragliding risers on request.

The Thrust HP project mission was to combine the advantages of the Thrust in low speeds with the latest Reflex profile technology in high speeds to yield a specialized paramotor wing that would offer true high performance yet retain the friendliness and safety of the Thrust.

The Thrust HP employs a unique patent-pending Automatic Stall Recovery System (SRS) that allows the pilot fly and launch at amazingly low speed despite the high wing loading. It prevents the wing and pilot from stalling at critical angle of attacks and aids in automatic recovery in case of a stall. Click me!
New refreshing top surface designs and features such as the SRS, HIT valves , Flexon battens, Swivels and Neodymium magnets examplify APCO's uncompromising attention to detail.

The Thrust HP is a versatile high performance paramotor wing for pilots who wish to stretch their flight envelope and keep their smile in the air.

HIT Valves:Go Back To Top

HIT Valves, (High-Speed Intake Valves - pat. pending), a concept introduced by APCO, increases the internal pressure of the wing both during accelerated flight and in extreme situations, dramatically improving safety and performance.

How it Works:

HIT Valve
The Standard leading edge intakes on a paraglider are placed on the stagnation point of the profile at trim speed. This ensures maximum internal pressure of the canopy for this angle of attack.

Once you accelerate, the wing is flying at a lower angle of attack, and therefore the stagnation point moves higher on the nose of the profile. The "HIT Valve", placed above the leading edge openings, opens automatically when the stagnation point moves over the valves, pressurizing the wing. Only a few valves are necessary over the span of the leading edge to pressurize the entire wing at higher speeds.

The Valves are kept closed at trim speed by the internal pressure of the wing.

APCO MayDay Reserve

Apco Aviation started manufacturing the Mayday in 1984, and since then put over 20 000 pieces into service in the Paragliding and Hang Gliding markets. The Mayday has hundreds of life saving deployments to its name, from beginners to world champions (Read letters from saved pilots).

The Mayday is available in four sizes, all available with a short or long bridle, for paragliding or hang gliding. Apco also manufactures a wide range of
accessories for the Mayday range. This includes front and side mounted external containers for paragliding as well as external containers for hang gliding, split bridles, long bridle extensions, UV-sleeves and much more.

Over the years the basic design and construction techniques have remained the same - there is not much to improve on a winning design and best seller as Mayday, even though it is continuously perfected and polished, insuring that it is updated on even the smallest details. All four of the of Mayday parachutes are "Flat Circular Pulled Down Apex" in design. In 1998 the Mayday Bi was released in a Pulled down Apex version, and soon after the Mayday 20 hit the market.

The Mayday boasts superior construction and materials. The canopy cloth is F111 "zero porosity" ripstop nylon. The skirt and apex skirt is reinforced with 1'mil spec nylon tape, neatly wrapped and stitched with a precision four-needle machine. The line attachments have V-Tab reinforcements, sewn in place with a computerized machine, ensuring consistently high quality and strength.
The Bridle is made from 6000 pound Nylon Webbing (UV Resistant).

The attachment loop is covered with a Teflon sheath, to protect it from dangerous friction which may occur during deployment. Finally the bridle has a line sheath attached, to protect the lines where they link to it.
